The Shimmer Mare is a serialized fiction (copyrighted) story appearing in each issue of The Foundation Quarter Horse Chronicle.
An excerpt from Part 7 follows:
"Old Crebbs gave me that slow, quiet look and told me to hush. "We'll find her," he said.
While sitting there atop the ridge, something caught my eye. A small cloud of dust rising in the air a little northeast of us. Breaking over the top of the low ridge to our right came the sunset red sorrel stud horse, Irish McPete. Every bit the son of Peter McCue and every bit the king of his domain. No sooner had I thought these thoughts, when a flash of gold appered right behind him. It was the Shimmer Mare! She was with Irish, just like Old Crebbs had determined!
. . . . We watched them play and race and then we watched the race of the decade. You must keep in mind that Irish was one of the fastest horses in the area."

If you'd like to read more than excerpts of "The Shimmer Mare" consider purchasing back issues or mailing a check or money order for $3.50 for the next issue, which will be the January Stallion Issue. At this time, we are only publishing one FULL issue per year: A Stallion Issue, along with two ADS only issues with limited articles.
Archived copies of each issue are limited, so it's a "first come, first serve basis". Order Form
Send a check or money order payable to FQHCH and mail to Susan Allen to the address below. Thank you.
And as Frank Sumner would've said, "Have a sunny, "palomino" day!"
